Create Your Own Dreamcatcher Party Event

Dreamcatchers are a unique craft. Furthermore, they bring good dreams! (That is what the folk law states!) Originally, these were created by American Indians.
Guests make their own Native American Traditional handmade keepsakes. Once the web or willow hoop is put together, the guests decorate each weave with feathers and beads. This is a craft that takes some time to put together. Therefore, it is perfect for small, intimate gatherings.
Not only is it a fun craft, but it is also educational. Therefore, it is a great craft for schools! This craft displays the culture and historical activities. It can also be incorporated into mutli cultural events. Known as “Sacred Hoops,” Ojibwe dreamcatchers, were traditionally used to protect sleeping people, and children, from bad dreams and nightmares. Native Americans believe that the night air is filled with dreams, both good and bad. The dream catcher lets good dreams go through while capturing the bad ones. It is to be placed over the sleeping person’s bed where the sunlight hits, or on a baby carriage. Traditional dream catchers are 3 to 5 inches across. The sun causes the bad dreams to melt and perish. Using colorful feathers and beads on a woven circle, each dream catcher has its own unique style. Area needed: 10’L x 10’W.
